While hefty, it contains a mere seven Jurassic/Cretaceous creatures, ranging in size from the modest Euoplocephalus through the larger Corythosaurus to the truly huge Barosaurus. The snippets of data on the folded flaps include physical information, global location maps, diet, an introduction to the paleontologist who first discovered each dino (complete with picture), and an introductory paragraph. As the nanny of a four year old boy whose primary interest is dinosaurs, I've become well read on the subject. This is one of our favorite books. It is big, with spectacular fold outs. There are plenty of small tidbits of information on each dinosaur just right for young people to digest. There are fun facts and comparisons. I don't think I've ever been disappointed with a DK book. This is one is in our top ten of all our dinosaur books. Easily read everyday without driving you crazy (that is a legitimate way to rate books). We both give it 5 stars.

I bought this book as an Easter gift for my grandnephew who LOVES Dinosaurs and his mom has assured me he will love it! I love everything by DK and have been buying books as gifts for a very long time so I am confident it will be used for a very long time. A word of caution however, some of the pictures are not of sweet cartoon dinosaurs but pretty graphic and the wording is more like an Usborne book with very detailed factual information. this is not a story book but more like a reference book for one who wants to learn about dinosaurs.

My son( two year old) was scared looking at this book. name of the dinosaurs very complicated as well...this book maybe for a 2-3 rd grade kids at least.

Damaged. Binding broke down back. Disappointed as this was a gift.

Amazing Giant Dinosaurs' cover does not convey the interior's generally confusing and schizophrenic layout of material.The content is solid as is the case with DK books typically.The Flaps, and there are many, don't have the "reveal" factor we have grown accustom to with story books for kids of a similar age.The 9 year old has little interest in this but the 4 year old loves it for short periods of time. With no clear "path" (for lack of a better word) he just flips back and forth between pages willy nilly.DK has better.

Yep, indeed there is, this is a fantastic book, cool fold outs, photo realistic pictures (yep, including one dinosaur eating another, blood, guts, bone, muscle and all) and interesting text. Not for the squeamish, but great for kids who love "real" dinosaurs.

I bought this is as a gift for an 8 year old and he was thrilled; seemed to have lots of information and terrific graphics.

Just as described and fast shipping!!
