Well I remember the day I found St. Cyril and his Lectures!! 50 years ago! They are the Classical Lectures on Baptism. But the heart of the Lectures for me is the 5 Mystagogical Lectures. They explain very clearly the inner connection of the three Sacraments of Christian Initiation. They explain the symbolism of the Rites. Profound Teachings are to be found in the symbolism. They make a wonderful prelude to the teaching of St Paul on Baptism and the Holy Eucharist. St. Cyril and his Lectures have been a very real influence on my life. To the Christian who wants to develop and deepen his understanding of the Christian Sacred Mysteries, I recommend these Catechetical Lectures. If they do not 'click' on the first Reading, read again. If after many attempts they still do not 'click', then you haven't understood. My only advise is: keep reading until you do!! They are too good to be tossed aside and discarded. A request for AMAZON. Could you also make available the Mystagogical Lecture of St. Ambrose. Ignotus.

This should be required reading for all who would go into lay ministry, catechesis, and especially those who facilitate the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. Beyond that all Christians would do well to meditate on the words of Saint Cyril and be drawn into a deeper faith in the mysteries, the sacraments of Christ's church.

Very comprehensive; also accessible for a modern reader (for me at least). St. Cyril relies heavily on the Holy Scriptures as he elaborates on the Nicene Creed. I especially appreciated his listing of Old Testament prophesies, and his exhortation for the newly illumined to participate in Divine Liturgy with reverence. This catechism's reputation as the best patristic catechism is well earned. This is appropriate reading for both catechumens and Church members ( by way of reminder) alike.

A great overview of what was being taught to the Christians of that time as they were seeking to enter into the fullness of catholic Orthodox Christianity. A great read!

Cyril took me through step by step many of the doctrines of the faith and helped me to better understand them. Excellent for both new believers and old timers in the faith.

A great work by St Cyril, showing that the early church not only believed that Christ is truly present in his most holy mystery of the Eucharist but that baptism is by triple immersion for salvation and Mary is truly the Mother of God! A classic for students of the early church.

This book is fantastic. You only have to read the first page of St Cyril's description of the procatechesis to know this is another Orthodox book to treasurer.

I enjoy reading this kind of history - taken directly (through translation, of course) from the mouth of the teacher.
